Default soft tail frames

I bought a custom chop owner had no info to share other than basic stuff. What i am told is this is a 99 soft tail frame. everything else is custom s&s motor , I think it is stock trans.. any way every thing is after market SO my question is do the frames differ from a custom to a heritage, springer etc.. I know the neck was changed so vin look up is out numbers dont match hd vin.

Welcome to the Forum from Colorado!

You're gonna have to post up some pictures in order to get any kind of help with that. Are there any stampings on the frame to give you an idea of who welded it up?

I think they are the same, except maybe the Fatboy has wider swingarm? May be a later year for that though.

Looks like it's been sitting a while. Does it run?

Yeah the pics are a few days old looks like new now . the motor runs strong. i am going over it all rebuilt carb ,changing oil ,hyper charger etc.. nut &bolt everything make sure its sound . However figuting out how to order parts is becoming a task not knowing vin so i am building a log of vin numbers for ordering parts. but when it comes to the frame with new neck and no vin how do i order parts, breaks ,shocks, seat etc. just as a 99 soft tail.

Don't bother with a Hypercharger. The S&S A/C is cool. You will probably be safe ordering Softail parts from that era, but will likely find that some will fit and some will not. Part of having a used custom with no history.

Yeah i hear that i am making my own manual. I am even having a hard time with S&S reached out to them to find out about the numbers on the motor they want the crank numbers so i have to look through the timing hole one letter at a time just to confirm what motor this is. well when i am done i will know every inch and have a good idea of what i have short of breaking down everything and micing every part.
