Default "A" and "B" motor HP differences

I have heard somewhere before that the horsepower differences in the A and B motor were big based on the counter balancer in the motor. Has anybody seen this in builds. if the same stock bike was put on a dyno, A motor VS B motor, who would have more HP?

Of course there is. Not an HD plot. Bikes that do not have rubber mounted engines need the Balance model to control vibration . The system uses some HP.

You couldn't do that dyno test, we can only test two bikes with engines as close as possible. There is bound to be some difference in the TQ and HP, simply due to the extra rotating masses and drain of the balancer shafts and their drive chain. The differences cannot be 'big' IMHO, but the cards drop in favour of the A spec.

Why do you ask?

I ask because I’m wanting to know what the drain is on a B motor with the extra weight and rotating mass. Just curious.
There are these two bikes, lets say its a father, son rivalry. When i ride my A motor, is feels like it revs a lot faster than a B motor bike of my fathers. Mods are similar and even favor the B motor. So just wondering if the A motor and B motor had mods how much more HP would you need on the B motor to achieve the same 1/4M time. Make sense?

Oh yes, it makes sense, however I've never seen that comparison, which is a shame. It would indeed be interesting to see a comparison and I'm sure the MoCo knows the answer. We need a father and son to volunteer.....

Don't know where you're getting those numbers. If you have a link please post it. Also, in a 1/4 mile race the final drive ratios will have a significant effect on the end results.
Anyway, if you go by that difference you should look to increase the power by 5-10%. That should do it.

Real specs would be nice to see , new motors equal tune , but I'd put my money on the B motor (even with extra balance weight) being faster revving and a touch more hp
