Default Police Bikes

I bought a tac from a 04 Roadking Police bike. Does anyone know if this is a factory tac ? I am asuming it is because it has its own mount, you remove the fork cover and replace with the tac and cover. Now the tac comes with a short wird harness with a 6 pin female plug. Does anyone know or have a wire diagram for such? i am mounting it on my 05 Roadking and have ordered a service manuel but have not received it yet and do not know if the wire diagrams cover police bikes or not. better yet does anyone know any city police depts using this bike as they may have a diagram or if it is indeed a factory setup they may have some lititure. I am assuming one wire goes to the open pin on the speedo, one pos, one neg, one for the light ect. Thanks for any info.

Went through the manual...nothing specific to Police bikes that I saw, and no SPEEDO port in the wiring diagram...

My brother-in-law has a police roadking. It has the tach you are talkiing about. He also has the shop manual and wiring diagrams. I will see about getting info on where all the wires go.

There is a supplement for the police bikes that is mostly wiring diagrams. I have one for my wifes 99'. I'll check the diagram and check back. That is a deutch connector that is on the end of the Tach. I believe that you need it's male counterpart. These very often are stocked at the dealer, believe it or not. (or they can order it) There is a special crimp tool to install the pins, but soldering them will give very acceptable results.

i was going to get one of those tachs for my 05, but two things. i knew i would have to do some extra wiring to get to that 6-pin plug you have and it's too big. the police models have a male adapter for that 6-pin. you will have to wire one in on yours. i broke down and bought the mini-tach for it. easy to install (2 hours), just hated drilling holes in the riser cover!!

Hey skywagon, the parts you need (besides some wire ) are 1 each of 72451-00 and 5 each of 72452-00. Thats the connector and the pins. I am still trying to figure out exactly which plug you connect the other end to but havent given up. Good luck.
