I have catch cans on my Hemi-powered Dodge cars, and they catch a decent amount of blow-by. I'll get between an ounce to two ounces at oil change time. I haven't found much info on here as to whether they're viable on our Harleys. I did notice that at 3500 miles my Road King has some oil in the filter and a film of oil on the throttle blade. I don't know of that is enough to warrant a catch can, though.
I tried the catch can thing when I first routed the breathers out of the airbox. I always eventually ended up with an oily mist all over the right side of the bike.
Got tired of blow by into my cylinders and oil on my air filter so I drilled and tapped my Arlen Ness big sucka high flow air cleaner and installed this cheap e-bay canister(20 bucks) DK customs can is much better but it also is around 50 bucks. clean it every couple thousand miles or before any long trips, its no big deal. Besides the cheap clamp I have on it , it doesn't look to bad.
