Default Leather Pro Fitment Question.

Hi folks I've just purchased myself a set of Leather Pro saddlebags. I find the quality exceptionally good. My only problem is that they rub on my Sundowner seat. Has anyone experienced the same problem? If you have how did you rectify it?
The only way I think it can be solved is to bring all four bolts out 3/4 of an inch?

I have a set of their lift-off T-Sport type bags and had a similar problem. I simply used spacers on the front mountings, not the rear, which works a treat for my Sportster. I didn't use as much as 3/4", but did need to buy longer bolts, along with a bit of trial and error.

That will solve the right side problem. But the left will be a return. As you can see the bag is in the locked position and fully adjusted, but the rear jaws are nowhere near closed.

Wink

I can only say it works for me! I have had my bags several years now and found I had to adjust the locking mechanism on both of my bags shortly first using them, which makes them much more secure than as they came. If you are installing yours for the first time I suggest you remove your seat while trial fitting. Until you can operate the latches, on your bike, you really can't confirm if the locking mechanism is working correctly IMHO.

As I mentioned, I had similar problems and phoned Leather Pro to talk them through. I don't recall the chap's name, but he was very helpful and even made small changes following our conversation and emails. That is how I came to use longer front spacers than at the rear, which has worked fine for a good while now, including travelling through France on several occasions. As I recall you should now have spacers in your fitting kit, which you can thank me for!

These are the instructions for the Retro bags I have, as amended following my discussions with Leather Pro. Note the different spacers front and rear.

All good guys. I phoned the folks at Leather Pro and they were extremely helpful. They guided me through and everything is great.

Great news! Many happy trips ahead of you now. Do keep a close eye on the firmness of your latches as you ride, as I found mine seemed to get slack pretty soon, so my bags started to move on the mounting pins. I plucked up courage to adjust the latches and they have been tight and more confidence inspiring ever since.

I sourced 4 inch high tensile bolts and cut them back to the required length with the 3/4 inch extra spacers provided.
