Ok, probably shouldn't tell it on myself, but dang, I own it. After looking everywhere, videos etc, I decided to do an oil change, new bike to me. PO had new cam plates and lifters etc supposedly done at 38 k, a little over 40 now. It's cold, but I wanted to be ready for some christmas runs , weather permitting. Anyway, warmed it up in the shop, just planning to do the engine. Well damn if I didn't drain the tranny instead, went to fill the tank, and 1/2 a quart to fill? Back to the manual, 3.5 qts, internet 3.5 qt. I thought that's not much in the drain pan, and I KNOW it wasn't low. It's awful clean, I'll pour that through a paint strainer, and use it for refills. Light bulb moment, figured it out, lol, felt so dang dumb, onward , got it done. In the midst, found the ticket on the engine work, and it was done at a little over 39k instead of 38, so didn't really need to do a dang thing. I have piece of mind now though. All praise the the gods, and try not to get TOO rough with me!
Yeah, we all do stupid stuff, I left a rag in my carb, looked right at it and said to myself, don't forget that rag, and wondered why the bike wouldn't start, felt like having a banner made saying "A dumb *** lives here".

Get a sharpie and draw a huge "E" on the engine plug, and a "T" on the trans plug. Done. Unless the plug faces are black, then get a Sanford "Mean Streak" and draw the letters in white. That **** is indestructible.
A friend of mine at the dragstrip, changed intakes between runs, had the ports stuffed with shop rags.
