Default fireing degrees

I heard that the harley motors do not fire 180* apart, which is what makes the unique Harley sound. Can somebody tell me how many degrees crank rotation there is between each time it fires.

Sorry for the simple question. I'm just learning.

Default RE: fireing degrees

Older harley engines (up to EVO) fire at the same advance on every stroke. This is called a wasted fire ignition. The cylinder that is on the compression stroke and has a fresh ingestion of fuel/air will fire a power stroke and the other cylinder will be in the exhaust portion of its cycle so the spark is wasted. Note that the coils are duplex - that is; one primary winding and two secondary high voltage windings, so they fire simultaneously. The newer engines do not use the wasted fire spark technique.
