Default Scratch

I was wondering if you could help me with an Auto Body question I have. I recently purchased a 2up seat for my Street Bob, and put it on my bike. Well Instead of just putting the seat on the fender, I put something that is like this clear plastic coating stuff on my bike that sits between the fender and the seat. I can’t remember what it is called but it sticks to the paint and prevents it from getting scratched. Well I took it off because it was not sticking that well, when I took it off I noticed that there was a couple of really deep scratches that look like hair line fractures, from what I can only assume came from the plastic protective tape I placed on the fender, and happened from taking it off, it sticks really good. There are about 2 of them and they are each about 2 inches long. When I run my finger along them my nail does catch. So what I want to know is should I leave the protective tape on the fender or take it off. I want to prevent it from rusting, if it even would? What should I do?

Late modle harley's have a good coat of clear on them.If the scratch is white in color you can try some white polishing compound followed by harley's polish&glaze and don't be afraid to rub!
