Default Shop tach?

Anyone have any suggestions for a shop tach? I'm looking for one so I can accurately set my idle RPMs, etc., since I don't have a tach mounted on my bike...

I'm tempted to just try to pick up a used tach from a sportster or something, and just put some alligator clips on the wires so I could temporarily hook it up, but I'm not sure how accurate that would be.

Any suggestions on a cheap solution would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Do a google search for an inductive tachometer. A few choices are available for less than $100.

No, I never did. Anything I ran across was more than I wanted to spend.

I was thinking of trying to pick up a cheap tach off of ebay (like one of the huge sportster take-offs or something) and seeing if I could wire it up with a couple of alligator clips to work as a makeshift shop tach...

Twowheels,
Read this thread, https://www.hdforums.com/m_355706/tm.htm

I purchased this meter and am very pleased with it. Good quality, more features than I need, very reasonably priced.
