Does a chromed out engine run hotter than one that is not chromed? If so, then how much hotter could the engine run?

I have read that it does there was a test article I read once that they where testing paints and they found that blk ran the coolest?? I have never chromed a engine I have done complete polishing though and it ran a bit warmer. Nothing to be worried about but it was running 10* warmer on the norm and all was done was a complete polishing job on the entire engine.

Chrome retains heat more than other surfaces. Best heat disapation is through rough cast (not polished) aluminum or with a thin black coating. Polished aluminum retains more heat than rough cast. I got this info years ago from a publication on high performance auto mods (I think it was "How to Hot Rod a small block Chevy"). That's why it is supposedly not a good idea (in the interest of cool oil) to run a chrome oil pan, oil filter, etc. on your car, same would apply to bikes. I don't know how much of a difference it makes, but it makes sense. I always wonder about this when I look at the chrome oil filters on bikes. I think I'll run the plain black one on mine.
