Some will cite things like seals or gaskts or even the engine, trans or chaincase is somehow "used to" something or other. Quoting what their mechanic or dealership said.
It's all crap.
The exception would be an engine designed for synthetic oil, then yes conventional oil may damage the seals.
Harley-Davidson engines are not designed specifically for synthetic or conventional oil.
This is one of those things where the answer is obvious and normal so some will want to appear superior knowing the real counterintuitive info.

This is besides the issue for whether to use synthetic oil or conventional oil or different oils in the trans and chain case and the brands.
I don't think there's any other issue and he's forums more contentious than that.
maybe whether to use premium gas and fuel additives and their brands.
Some Amsoil and Seafoam enthusiasts border on a cult.
But I have hardfast rules and favorites too.
I'd give you my opinions on oil gas and additives but who cares?
