I am using the Dunlop American Elite Gen II. Front wheel is 2008+ Softail so it is the standard 130 x 16. The rear wheel is a 2009+ Road King rim laced to the original Dyna hub so it uses a 180 x 16.
My father is in Florida right now and had an old previous Shovelhead owner wondering how he got a Twin Cam into a 4 speed frame yesterday. He loves it when people get confused, He owns 4 Shovelheads so he knows the details needed. He claims to have machined a bolt-on Shovelhead rockerbox cover. He decided to make the 2nd one when he gets home.
Here are two of his Shovels. The one on the left is probably closing in on 150k miles. The 1983 on the right has 14k original miles.
Will probably post a few more pictures this week for your viewing pleasure.

Is the Road king rim a 4.5" or a 5" wide rim. I would like to go with the wider tire in the rear to stay near the stock with. If I can find a used Dyna hub (seems to be an impossible task so far) and a 16"x4.5" or 16"x5" hoop, I will pick up some spokes and lace a complete wheel and then try and resale the rear Slim wheel. I would have only got the front, but it was a package deal.

The Road King rim is a 5.00.
The Slim rear wheel, being a 16x3.00 will safely mount a 150 rear tire. I would think that would be close enough to you original 160 and save you all kinds of headaches.

Yea, I think for now, I will get the front trued up and mount the 130/90 black wall to it and run it and the almost new rear tire on the 17" for now until I need to replace the rear. That will give me time to find a hub and lace the new rear without being in a hurry. Then when I need to replace the rear, I will order the White Walls and replace both the front and rear together. Maybe a winter project this year, I am sure I can wear some rubber down while on my two week trip, 1800 miles each way, to sturgis this summer. I can't get over how much WWW cost compared to the same tire in all black.

I order my tires from Dennis Kirk, the WWW are not that much more than black walls. Also, their tires are usually under 3 month old as their volume is so great. Being they are in Minneapolis, I get my deliveries from them in one or two days as a bonus.

Got the rear end put together today, saddlebags tomorrow. Should be able to fire it up after that. Too cold to ride for another month at least.
