the seat turned out great I had a problem finding a seat hinge but I lucked out a lucidkustoms makes one. I will post some more pics when I finish my tank shifter, I have a devils head for a shift knob its going to be awesome.

well batt. box mod isn't turning out the way i had hoped. after much rearranging of my ecm/pcIII i found a solution that's gonna work without really adding anything to the batt. box except maybe an 1/8in. to cover the gap left from the ecm under there. hoping to have it this week so i can post some final pics of the bike. between this and trying to get my track bike dialed in i have no time for anything. come on summer!

Question? I think I posted this somewhere but I'm new here and I'm getting kinda lost. Someone told me to come here but I thought I had posted this already on here. Anway, I don't see it. I purchased my 09 Harley Davidson Nightster at the end of 2009. I was wondering about the finish on other's Nightsters. Mine had what looked like a flat finish paint job. While putting gas in, drops of gas got on gas tank. Wiped off with Damp Soft Cloth. The paint started to peel off. Is this normal? After this I dropped the bike, gas poured out of gas tank. Yeap, tank was a goner. So, I guess my question is, is this normal? I've had problems with HD over this as well as a dealer. After seeing everyone else's post it's really giving me some hope as to fixing up my bike. I'm a "not good with tools type of girl" so I would have to have it done elsewhere but there is a pretty good place I've been dealing with. He repainted it for me. Another question is the 3.30 tank. Around 70 miles my gas light comes on. I think I've found a great place for Nightsters, I think I'm the only one in our county that has one, so I've seen. I have a bad back due to back problems, it's not a smooth ride until I hit around 60, then it's ok. I wondered if I bought a bike that was just suppose to be a display and they sold it because they knew they were going out of business. Carolina HD in Gastonia NC is where I bought it, Click and Diane Baldwin had the business. Click was killed going to a bike rally. Diane got out of the business. I took off the plate holder when I had it repainted, yesterday I picked up the plate holder and stuck my finger in my mouth and rubbed the plate holder, guess what? My finger had black on it, and it wasn't from dirt. It was from the paint. I've seen on here the Matte finish I think it's called? When I took it to another dealership they said it had a flat finish paint job. I don't have a clue. Hoping everyone here can offer some feedback. So far what I've paid on this bike I could have had a Heritage, or a Fatboy. I liked the looks of the Nightster and when I got on it, I just had to have it. Has anyone else dropped there bike and gas run out? If so did the paint get ruined? I'd also like to fix it up, as some of you have. What do I need to do? Take a Motorcycle Work On Class? LOL I know there's quite a few women on here. Do you ladies work on your own bikes? Ok, I'm going to stop there due to me having so many more questions. @therock59....you should have started a thread on this in the sportster section of the site. prolly would of had a ton of feedback already. i've heard of the matte finishes being finicky but nothing like this. your post is all over the place and is hard to decipher. you said you had it repainted? did it do the same thing? you should be able to go back to any hd dealer and get it taken care of provided it's still under warranty. assuming you're new to the site the best way to get answers is to search the forums (i know there is threads on here about the matte finishes) and if you can't find answers start a new thread. btw, i don't know what you paid for your nightster and your repaint job but i got out the door for 10k on mine and there is no way i could have gotten a heritage or a fatboy for that kind of money.
