Hi all - been "away" for a while. Had some surgery to remove some skin cancer - all went well, but I looked like hell for a while. Had the stitches out today so not as bad! Then, we are in the middle of trying to buy a new house, put ours on the market, etc.

SO ...at least I have had enough to occupy my mind so I don't sit around moping about not being able to ride! In fact, I can't believe it, but I haven't looked at one single parts catalog in a few weeks now! Oh my!

I do love my Bob. I just can't wait to finish setting it up. Looking forward to taking her/him (??) to Americade next June! It's a trip we've been talking about for 4 years now. Already have a cabin reserved for Mic and I and a friend who is going in on it with us. Can't wait!

Quick update... Grip mitts help a lot but I don't like how they make the hand controls harder to use so I'm not going to use them. Instead bought a nice pair of Harley leather gloves with gortex lining and they seem comfortable down to about 40 degrees. I swapped out the seat and put on a Screaming Eagle leather seat with room for a passenger. Very firm seat but I like it a lot. Definitely more comfortable than the stock seat. Also installed a set of highway pegs which make the ride SO much more comfortable that it's ridiculous. This weekend I'm going to install passenger pegs. Mileage is right at 948. Gonna hit the 1000 mark this weekend and go ahead and do the first service on the bike.

My update...Put on a Le Pera Silhouette seat and some some nicer foot pegs and highway pegs as well. The seat is thinner/firmer than the stock one and a bit less comfortable, but it looks good...it positions me about 1" lower and about 1" further back than the stocker. Completed the 1000 service last week, and the mileage is at 1050. I'm really liking the SB...it's a great bike.

Here is my update.... I bought some bags for the Silver Bullet for the trips next year because I was afraid to install the Motherwell luggage rack again. I had a big dent in my old Street Bob.

You might get a few scratches with those bags too.just need a bit of road dust and grit to get under the strap.I opted for a large leather post bag made by 'Lejonkulan' with bolts on the fender mounts.It's a 2 minute job to put on or take off..pic of the saddle bag on the bike is in the SBC album but was'nt cheap..cost me 5000 swedish kronor : (

Hey shaq, what highway pegs did you get? I'm thinking after all is said and done, that may just be what I'll do in the spring. I was thinking of floorboards, "wings", etc., but I don't think any of those would be any cheaper than highway pegs. I've ridden with hw pegs before so I know what they are like.

Floor boards on a Dyna look a bit over the top,I went with forwards and think they're great..only thing I miss is I cant stand up to ease my butt while riding long distances haha!

From what I've "heard", forward controls will be too much of a stretch for me. I am 5' 3-/12". Even though I am short, I still tend to cramp up with the regular mid pegs only. I had figured I'd go with highway pegs, but was trying to find a cheaper alternative that would look good. That's why I guess I'll just go with the highway pegs.

I HAVE had forwards on the two Sportsters I previously owned (an 883 low and the Nightster), and loved them. But I don't want to put forwards on only to find they are too far out for me. Plus, I think they are more expensive than highway pegs if I recall?

You can tell I've been spending more time riding and less time cleaning. The picture below with all of the jackets on the bike is how I store it in the garage at night so my cat won't tear up my new seat.
