Sorry if I am posting this in too many places, but I am officially entering my wife in the "Coolest Wife Ever" competition. I have been planning on getting an old bike in the next couple of years and have talked for years about getting a 1959 Panhead since it is my birth year. Well, I turn 50 later this month and my wife has been trying to figure out what to do special for this milestone. She came to me last week and told me that I should see if I could "find that bike you are always talking about."
I found it in northeast Iowa. It is almost completely original, the motor is in great shape and runs like a top. It does need some work but it was in my price range. It was owned by the same guy from 1959 until last year when it was sold to a friend of the family. He has ran into some difficulty financially and had to sell it. I just got back last night from a 2547.2 mile, 3-day road trip to Iowa. My wife and I are both originally from Iowa and it seems fitting that I got a bike that was bought in Des Moines and lived its life so far in the same state.
