I just rode my TG down to my Sons house to talk to him for a minute before my better half and I went for a ride. I backed it out of his drive way and started down the rode and it tried to go into reverse. It did not kick the circuit breaker. It made funny noises and I stopped. I had this funny feeling in my stomach what happened.
I tried the reverse and it wouldn't go into reverse. I checked the breaker and it wasn't blown. I rode it back to my house about a 1/2 mile and it was making grinding noises. Called my dealer and they are going to pick it up on Tuesday. Has anyone found out how to disable the reverse so that you could still ride it?? If this had happened on a trip I could live without reverse.
When returning from my last trip 1 week ago I had to ride through alot of rain. It appears after riding through alot of rain is when it will happen.
I agree; it seems like “rain” is the common denominator in all of these accidental reverse stories. And knowing how to disengage the starter in the event of an accidental engagement would be a good information to have ona trip. It disturbs me that the circuit braker didn’t pop!
Y'all are making me nervous. The misses is practicing with her brand new out of the box SG Trike, she stops, puts it in Neutral, engages reverse, hits the button, and as soon as she starts backing up the radio comes on.
Odd, so she turns the radio off, does another circle in the parking lot, goes through the same procedure, and sure enough the radio comes on again.
It now happens every time she goes into reverse. At first I thought this was funny, now I'm not laughing. The stealership is getting her trike real soon for a fix.

Reason: I misspelt sumthin
That is the first one I heard of doing that. My dealer sure would be getting it to take a look at. Rob: They did move the circuit breaker from under the seat (2009) to behind the right side cover (2010). I think the reason for doing that was so you could reset it easier without removing the seat. It will be interesting how long it takes to get it fixed and what all did it destroy? I am leaving on vacation on the 18th going to Pigeon Forge.
If nothing else the dealer can disengage it and I will go without reverse. I will soon find out how to disengage it.
When this happened yesterday M3 wanted me to take his TG for a ride but I was so disgusted I didn't want to do anything.
Somewhere on this site is how to disengage it but I can't find it. I put it in reverse and tried to back up but it wouldn't back up. I thought I would hit my breakes and kick the circuit breaker.

Dang... Your making me nervous. So far the radio doesn't turn on when I put mine in reverse, but then the radio is on most of the time already.
Trikes don't like the Rolling Stones.. OK, not funny but..
Just for grins and giggles while I was visiting my Indy yesterday and I twirled through his 09 shop manual electrical diagram. The only two connections the 09 reverse and the radio have in common is the hot and ground. The only two places they have in common is the left control switch housing.
Short in the switch housing? Doesn't seem very likely but thought it to be a place to look. Stranger things have happened. Good luck in finding the reverse issues guys.
I have never had any problem with my reverse. Rain-or-shine mine works every time and there is no way it can go into reverse by accident, or at speed going down the road.
Aint happened on ours yet and we were in water up to the axle on the way home last weekend in a wicked downpour. Trunk was dry?????????was never before. Anyway we havent had the reverse problem.....yet.
