Default Security System

Howdy to you all. I am the proud owner a a 2009 Tri-Glide and found this forum. Been reading here for a few days and learning from some of you. I purchased mine on 7/17/2009 and flipped 3000 miles 8/19/2009. I guess that means I like it. Anybody give me more information + or _ on true dual exhaust or other must have extras, what is available for this model? :-) Looking forward to many more rides. I recently had a problem (twice), I think I have tripped the alarm system (I have siren installed) and it will not start. The first time it happened in my garage and it started next morning. Today it happened again and I had it towed to home and it will not start. Hope it will in morning like before. I will take it up with dealership but wondered how to disarm it or make it start after whatever I am doing wrong? Any ideas? I do love every inch of it but not so much tonight.
Bye for now, John

Make sure your in 1st gear with the clutch out and you have the key fob in your pocket. Then turn the ignition on and wait for a chirp from the siren. Once it has chirped it is disarmed and you can pull in the clutch or put it in neutral then start it. If you don't have it in gear or you pull the clutch in when you turn the ignition on it will alarm.

Leave it in gear when you turn on the ignition and wait for the chirp.

Is this a problem just when you have the siren add-on ?
Or is this a problem if you even have just the basic alarm system ?

Did HD set your five digit alarm code? If so, you could disarm it by using a series of blinker button pushes. The "how to" is in your manual along with a tear out card. It will also tell you how to set your five digit code now so you can use it in the future. This comes in handy if your fob battery goes bad so keep your "how to" card in your wallet or on the bike somewhere you can get to it if you loose your keys.

Note: the higher the number you choose the more difficult the "how to" can be and the first digit you set can't be a zero.

Welcome aboard.

John,

There are several threads on this subject in the Touring Section; as socko3 stated: you must start the bike in gear. Many owners with the alarm system have stated that they have now changed their habit and when shutting down leave the bike in gear rather than parking it natural; which is something that I have also done any way.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new ride!

Its a alarm issue, the siren just adds sound to the problem. The TG is treated like a side car rig in regards to the alarm. Once you get used to it its not much of a biggie. Without the siren it will just blink like its on crack if you try to turn the ignition on without it in gear or have the clutch pulled in, with the siren installed you get the crack junky blinking along with a heavy does of screaming.

I leave mine in neutral as this is an added security feature. Only problem is when I forget, then I turn it off and wait a few seconds and it starts right up.
