2015 Street 500 Low Fuel Light
Anyone know anything about the Low Fuel warning light?
My wife's Street 500 only has 1,700 miles on it. I took it out yesterday just to run some fuel through it and get the oil circulated since it has sat for a couple of months. RAN OUTTA GAS. Dam it. LOL
Got gas, got it back home and then noticed it has a low fuel light but, never came on.
Where to look first?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I don't have a Street 500,
But I can think of a few possibilities.
1. The indicator light is burned out.
2. The sending unit in the tank is broken or stuck
3. The wiring from the sending unit is interrupted.
Don't all the lights come on briefly when you turn the bike on? If they do that should tell you if the light is burned out or not.

Any ideas on how to free it up or would it just have to be replaced?
Thanks for any ideas.

I haven't had that on my Street 750, but the same thing happened on my Sportster when it came out of winter storage last year. It worked itself loose by the second or third tank of gas.
The fuel light on my Street 750 normally comes on anywhere from 125 to 140 miles after filling up. Her xg500 probably gets a tad better mileage than my xg750. I'd use the trip odometer to gauge the next couple of fuel stops and with some luck it will sort itself out.
I'll see if the shop manual says anything about a stuck sending unit, but I'm guessing it just has the procedure to replace it.
