if you want the mascot taken and dropped off on route let me know
Dave,

Saturday August 11 I'll meet Belgian forum member De79 in Eindhoven and hand over the Mascot to him. So on your way back home from Faaker See you'll be able to pick up the Mascot at De79's and take it with you to the British Isles.
When I met Hogjob in Breda August 15, I told him this plan. he's living in Hull and willing to take over the Mascot from you when the ferry arrives.

Please do me a favor guys and try to co-ordinate hand over moments in this thread. If needed exchange cell-phone numbers by PM. If you need Roel's and Paul's number just let me know; I have both numbers stored in my phone.

Have fun on your Faaker See trip and ride safe!

René

Hi Rene

I've sent you a PM with my new mobile phone number, please pass it on.

I can arrange to be at Hull Ferry Terminal most days (not 8th September)

Regards

Paul

Default French Alps Tour: Day 1 & 2

August 16 - 24 the I took the Mascot out for a ride on my Dyna across the French Alps.

Day 1 (Monday August 16) a buddy from work and I left from HARMELEN (The Netherlands) ...

...towards Ramstein AB (near KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany).
At the West-Gate we met Bcane98's wife Angi, who handed over the Mascot to me.

From there we left for ILBESHEIM, where we spent the first night at a B&B in a historic Bauernhof:

Day 2 (Thuesday August 17) we left from Ilbesheim, headding South along the River Rhine through Germany. At BASEL we crossed the border and continued through Switserland via BERN towards MONTREUX at Lake Geneva. We crossed the Swiss-French border at SAINT-GINGOLP in the afternoon and took a coffee brake just on top of a bridge over a little river being the pyisical borderline:

Looking East into Switserland:

Looking West into France:

From there we rode along Lake Geneva towards THONON-LES-BAINS where we picked up our "la route des grandes alpes carte de contrôle" at the Tourist Office:

From THONON-LES-BAINS we made our first kilometers on D902 LA ROUTE DES GRANDES ALPES to MORZINE (click links for maps).

In MORZINE we stayed overnight in Hotel LES RHODOS:

Stay tuned...more to follow!!

Default French Alps Tour: Day 3

During the evening of day 2 we had a good meal in the restaurant of the RHODOS Hotel where we found out that some pets drink from the same glass of Rosé as their owners do:

Day 3 (Wednesday August 18) we left the Rhodos Hotel around 09:30am and tryed to contact forum member jumporjerkoff who has his café just around the corner near our hotel. Unfortunately his café was closed so we missed him...

From MORZINE we left for VAL D'ISÈRE, were we arrived around 5:30pm.
During the day we crossed:

Col des Gets (1.200m)

Col de la Colombière (1.618m)

Looking South:

Col des Saisies (1.633m)

Cormet de Rosselend (1.698m)

La Rosière (1.850m)

That night we stayed in a B&B in LA THUILLE owned by a nice French family along the D902 towards VAL D'ISÈRE. Their house was build in 1806 and family owned since that time....

Stay tuned...more to follow!!
