what you describe in the first post ...kinda sounds like a head temperature sensor could be acting up ....
this would cause the ecm to add warm up fuel when the motor is hot already ....making it too rich ..causing the low idle ...
or a loose connection at the sensor itself ...

pull on the wires where they go to the ETS connector - see if it is broken inside the insulation at the connector. Code for ETS fault doesn't mean sensor is bad - means circuit has a problem - sensor is part of circuit - so are wires and connections. Many break right at the rubber where the wire enters the connector. Pull firmly.

My understanding is all it did was set a code if the crank position sensor and it did not jive.
You are saying only sensor died and it caused same issue as above? Did it set a code?
To the first poster, does your neutral position switch work fine?
