Default Weird Problem

Looking for a little help on something that just started happening and I am without a laptop to connect to my T-Max to send log files in.

My FXDF starts fine cold, runs fine through the whole temperature range, but ... turn it off and get gas or go into a store whatever, a few minutes later try to restart, coughs and sputters. If I hold the throttle open just a little bit starts back up but won't idle if I let off the throttle.

If I wait until it cools off again, starts right back up and runs perfect through the whole temperature range again.

I know, first thing to suspect will be the engine temperature sensor or the IAC but why doesn't it deteriorate slowly as the heat builds up. So I guess the question is can anyone explain why it runs through the temperature range after a cold start but won't start and idle after it's been turned off?

I've checked all the electrical connections and had the IAC out cleaned etc. and not seeing any codes on the speedo ....

If anyone has seen this exact set of symptoms before and has a solution I would really appreciate hearing where you ended up.

Thanks

My '13 FXDF has done this as well and I'm using the Vigilante EZ tuner. Started fine leaving work to make and errand shut off and went inside for about 10 min. came back out and started it would not hold an idle or nothing. Would die right away if you let off the throttle. I rode it home, about 15 miles, keeping the throttle open in heavy stop and go traffic then for some reason as I was almost home it started to run correctly and hold the idle. Got home and put the bike on the charger and has not happened yet. Guess I will keep it on the trickle charger when at home now. Not sure if it is a FXDF issue or what, would like to see if others have had the same issue with different tuners.

Ive had the FP3 since it first came out on my 13 and Ive never had any starting issues. Im actually more impressed at how this bikes starts up and runs great everytime moreso than my previous BMW's and Ducatis.

The diagnostic codes you want to see are on the TMCC, not your speedo. Since you can't link up to a computer you can't check for codes.
