Default SERT programming error message (PROBLEM SOLVED!)

I have a 2008 Ultra. I'm trying to load a map for a 2008 touring bike into my bike's ecm. I get an error message saying the map is not compatible with my vin. It says that I need to get different software. It's a US bike and I'm trying to load the US 2008 HD map. Not the HDI map. WTF? 2008 bike with a SERT I bought with the bike and a 2008 map from the SERT disk. Anyone know what the issue is and a fix? Thanks.

Do you have the new Super Tuner or the SERT? The new Super Tuner will list the ECM'sP/Nthat is it compatible with, I have seen this before....the ECM needs to have a 'A' after the P/N to except the new tuner.
Are you installing a 200 calibration from the files?

Pretty sure thereare 2 diff files, an -A0 or -A1.
I needed-A1 for the ecm part number I had which was -08A.

Check the ecm part number. Is it -08 or -08A

You probably just need the correct file type.

I have both the A0 and A1 files for the same map. Same error message for both.

Okay, I would have to guess you have the 476v of the soft ware, this version had a lot of problems with most of the ECMs, it was updated very quickly with the 477v. If youcan findthe new 477v get it on your computer butDELETE ALL of the 476v off your computer first. There is a thread on the HDF somewhere here that has a link to down load the 477v software....do a search.

Ok. That sounds like that might fix my problem. The disk I got with my SERT was the 476v. I did download the 477v files. But when I tried to load the 477v file, I used the 476v program. I just deleted all my 476v stuff and loaded 477v into my computers. I'll give it a shot in the morning and let you know if that worked. I've been getting some nasty detonation at around 50% throttle from 3,000 rpm and up. I want to get that out before I do anymore riding. I don't care to tear up my engine.

PROBLEM SOLVED! [sm=happy046.gif]

As Doc 1 and someone on the "other" HD board pointed out, I did not have the latest software version. I'd been using v476. I needed v477. I was able to download v477 software (including the maps) from the internet. I tried loading a v477 map using my v476 program. I got the same error. A party on the other board said to totally erase any v476 software. Once I did this, I was able to load a new map in the bike.

So a thanks to Doc 1 and RJCapp for offering up suggestions. This is why I like these HD forums. Had I taken my bike and SERT to the stealer, I'm sure they would not have been able to quickly and easily assess the situation and resolve it. And to top it off, I'd purchased the SERT (and the bike for that matter) from a dealer 1100 miles away. So if I had exchanged the CD, I would have been waiting a week or two instead of overnight to fix the problem.

Thanks again!
