Default HARMAN KARDON "RADIO NOT DETECTED" ECM?

Hi, and a plea for help!

I purchased my bike (FLHT 2006)&nbsp\\;with a "Radio Sound" Radio/CD Player&nbsp\\;Model No RS9803UD, H-D P/N 76146-03 pre installed.

I subsequently purchased a "Harmon Kardon" Radio/CD Player H-D P/N 76160-06.&nbsp\\;This&nbsp\\;I installed and tried to have calibrated at my local dealership however this was unsuccessful&nbsp\\;as the ECM was unable to detect that a radio had been installed.

This unit was then exchanged by H-D and when the new unit was installed and the bike&nbsp\\;was taken to be calibrated once again&nbsp\\;at my dealership&nbsp\\;they found exactly the same problem once again ie that there is a beeping of the radio every 30 seconds (radio neeeds to be calibrated) and that the ECM is unable to detect&nbsp\\;that a radio had been installed, and therefore the unit cannot be calibrated.

I feel the problem is with the bike rather than the audio system.&nbsp\\;All aspects of the unit are working fine however as the beeping of the calibration cannot be bypassed, then whichever mode you use is interrupted every 30 seconds.

I really need to get this resolved as&nbsp\\;I tour a lot and need&nbsp\\;the MP4 function that allows you to burn 10hrs of music on to a CD.

Something doesn't sound right here (no pun intended). The 2006 model year was the first of the Harmon Kardon systems. the -03 part number on your previous radio was for 2005 and earlier models. Wiring harness etc were completely different for the two. Are you sure previous owner (I assuming it was used) didn't jury rig a radio into the bike?

2006 models came with the HK...and the HK plays mp3s and will NOT play mp4s.

You need to take it to a dealership where they can put it into another ultra with the fairing off and program it that way. Do you have a aftermarket ECM I do a DTT the radio cannot be programed with a aftermarket ECM.

Sorry for the delay in replying but I have been away touring around Spain and Portugal for the past 3 weeks (busy life, eh).
&nbsp\\;
As mentioned earlier my 2006 FLHT came with&nbsp\\;a "Radio Sound" Radio/CD Player&nbsp\\;Model No RS9803UD, H-D P/N 76146-03 which was fitted by the dealership for the first owner. Now this all works fine apart from the AVC does not work.

I subsequently purchased a "Harmon Kardon" Radio/CD Player H-D P/N 76160-06.&nbsp\\;And replaced the Radio Sound unit&nbsp\\;and took the bike to the dealership to have the unit calibrated, however this was unsuccessful&nbsp\\;as the ECM was unable to detect that a radio had been installed.

This unit was then exchanged by H-D and a&nbsp\\;new unit was supplied and installed on the&nbsp\\;bike&nbsp\\;and&nbsp\\;taken to be calibrated once again at my dealership. They found exactly the same problem once again ie that there is a beeping of the radio every 30 seconds (radio neeeds to be calibrated) and that the ECM is unable to detect&nbsp\\;that a radio had been installed.

I still feel&nbsp\\;the problem is with the bike rather than the audio system.
&nbsp\\;
I have just checked the part numbers: 76146-03 Ultra classic radio and 6160-06 Radio uncalibrated.&nbsp\\;And they are genuine parts purchased through a dealer.
&nbsp\\;
Can the ECM be removed and replaced (upgraded)?
&nbsp\\;
Keep thinking guys I need to get to the bottom of this.
&nbsp\\;
