What is the cause of my 2009 harmon kardon radio to discontinue playing any audio, but continue to display all functions on the screen. I understand it may be an amplification circuit within the radio. What is the most cost affective source to make this repair on this radio? This radio has a CD function which is almost ancient technology already. The only new replacement I have found is the Jenson radio without the CD player.Any input would be appreciated.
Send the radio to Iron Cross Radio in New Jersey, their great to work with, and will fix anything that's wrong with your HK radio, fair price a week turn around, also look for upgrades in their web site, the stock radio is superior to anything out there in my opinion, once I knew how to use the radio and all of it's functions it's great.

Welcome to the HD forum first off with your first post, so greeting from Gettysburg, Pa. As David quoted, Ironcross will go thru, do updates and trouble shoot your stock HK and do any upgrades like pre-outs, USB for your Ipod, etc.....Its cost affective for your HK or go another route & replace by a aftermarket radio/HU. Good luck.D
My 09 HK did the same thing. It seems that there was some sort of ground problem inside the radio when the radio gets heated up. They replaced mine under warranty.
I have the same problem intermittent audio.....took radio apart, ordered an IC (multifunction amplifier) for 10 dollars.....putting it in today and will keep you posted....by the way, taking the radio apart is semi difficult so you should have some tech savy......Thom
IC (amp) install update.......took about an hour and a half to take old one out and put in new one (IC)......works great.....I wouldn't recommend doing this if you've never done this before.......it is tricky......good luck!!
Get familiar with the site and then browse the audio section of the Forum .... You'll be surprised at the information available. FWIW you may be money ( and technologically ) ahead to update with an aftermarket head unit ... UltraNutz is one the better audio guru's on the site
