I read somehwere that the '06 download (from the stealer) is worthless??
I asked the dealer to put on a set of V&H longshots amd a hi-flow A/C. He told me I must put the download as well??
is it true or can i go without it?
p.s. at this time I dont have $ for the PCIII

RE: '06 download worthless??
It is worthless when compared to a PCIII, SERT or Fuelpak. The consensus seems to be that the correct download configurations for the '06s haven't been perfected yet. Given that you do not have cash for the PCIII or even the FuelPak from V&H you should probably go ahead and get the download. It's not perfect but it's the very least you can do to modify your fuel delivery.

Do NOT throw your money away on the download. Save up until you can get some type of programmer and then install your intake/exhaust. Why throw $150 away?? Put that money towards the programmer even if you only go with the V&H Fuelpack or the TFI which are cheaper then the SERT/PCIII.

RE: '06 download worthless??
The stage1 down load as I understand it does nothing but raise the rev limit on "06" bikes to 6200 rpm. Phil from Dynojet says that they compared the stock ECM to the stage1 down load and the fuel delivery in each rpm range was exactly the same when run on their Dyno. The only noted difference was that the rev limit was 6200 rpm. I think the download from Harley is about $149.00. I would save the money and put it towards a PCIII. JMHO.................BG

Stage 1 Air and slip-ons are actually a couple of relatively easy DIY projects.
Did them myself this past weekend with the help from a fellow forum member, Carmell RKC.
Maybe by doing it yourself you could take the $ from the dealer labor and put it towards the PCIII or FuelPak.
Just some ideas.

RE: '06 download worthless??
Your concern is that after your mods, your already sort of lean-running engine will be running too lean. That's a legitimate concern. I agree with others: get a DFO or the like, and use it just to richen the mix. It's not expensive; it works well; and if you later decide to go with the SERT or the PCIII, you can sell it.
