Question Method to clear a fault code?

I gave my 08 RKC a failure code during a handlebar swap. I corrected the cause and the bike runs great now. I did P/U the "limp code" during this swap and a dealer/service tech mentioned at the time I would need to bring her in to clear the code.

Noticed after start-up the yellow engine light comes back on after going off, for about 5 seconds or less, I assume this is because of my rogue code!? Is there a way for me to clear it out or does it require software purchase and/or trip to dealer?

I also assume since it goes out and does not come back on, bike runs well, that it is OK to run until I can do one or the other?

Not sure about an 08 but on earlier bikes the light will go out and stay our after it is started a number of times and found no problem. Not sure but it is around 10-15 times. System is dignosing itself once it is sure there is no problem the light will go out.

Sure there is a way to clear codes without going to dealer I just don't know what it is.

Well that at least makes me feel better about the light coming back on, even if it is only a few seconds. Thanks!

If the light comes on after starting and goes back off after 5 seconds that means that a history code is stored. to clear the code hold the trip switch (button) while turning on the ignition (hadlebar switch must be in run position) then release the trip switch and cycle the trip switch till code appears, once you have retrieved the code hold the trip switch down till the digital display shows "CLEAR" then turn the ignition switch off.
