Default fls slim problems

I have a 2012 slim since May 2012, since then my check engine light has come on about 10 times, it goes on and off and on and off. I brought it to the Harley dealer where I bought it twice and they said the diagnostic computer found that the bikes onboard computer didn't record the light ever went on, not even once. the only thing I can come up with is maybe it happens when the motor gets too hot but I can't say for sure. today is may 22, 2013 and yesterday in NYC (staten island was 80 degrees out and humid and the light came on AGAIN. 80 isn't that hot but the heat coming off the motor was a lot and of course the light went on then off when I started moving. anyone else out there having problems like this?

I find it hard to believe that the Check Engine light would come on without throwing a code...

Put the RUN switch to ON, then turn on the ignition.
If you hear a beep, it means you have codes to check.

To check for codes, hold down TRIP, then switch the ignition on.
The bike will enter DIAGNOSTICS mode. (Release TRIP)
Once the light check is complete, you'll see DIAG in the LED window.
Toggle TRIP to cycle through ECM, BCM, etc, and check for codes...
A "Y" means codes are present - ie; you'll see: "ECM Y"
If so, hold down TRIP again to display them - then toggle TRIP again to list them, if there are more than one.

Default codes for problems

cool thanks for the info. what I came up with were these codes:
B2156
U0100
Pn69991-11A
then I scrolled again and got:
SPD0Y
Pn70700-11

do these mean anything to you?

The dealer should be able to tell you what they are...
That last one, "SPDO Y" tells me there may be something wrong with the speedo unit itself.

There are three main categories when you're searching for codes:
ECM (Y or N)
BCM (Y or N) and
SPDO (Y or N)

a "Y" says there's a code in that module, a "N" of course means there isn't.
Once you see that "Y", if you hold down TRIP, it begins to display the codes in that module, toggling TRIP will list others if more than one exists.
And if you press and TRIP again when a code is displayed, that's where those "PN-xxx" numbers come up - so there are three levels of info: Module, Code, then PN.

Those two you posted, B2156 & U0100 looks like error codes alright, but you need to know what module they were in (ECM, BCM...)

Those other ones that look like part numbers (PN-xxx), I have no idea what they are, other than probably more detailed info for whoever is doing the troubleshooting.

Also you might want to find a dealer more willing to help you out, it sounds like yours doesn't want to.

My 2014 FLS engine light came on today too. Still under warranty, so I'll have them check it out. But curious as to what if you remember was what you found at fault? Thanks!
