need ECM help
ok month or so ago I took my 98 electraglide into a dealer to get my bike on the dyno because I put new pipes on rode the bike there ran real good so a few days I go get it it runs like crap they tell me the cold idle might have to be ajusted the would make me a good deal....
they would get me in later. couple days later the bike will not start..the 5 amp fuse to the ECM is blown change it nothing a week later (out of town) I go out and it will start but only one cylender now .... I think that the ECM went south on me. I can get one new in the box p/n 32423-97 mine is 32423-97b what are the upgrades from the 97.97b.97c and will it have to be dynoed again or would the power commander hold that info ?
The power commander will keep its map. What series PC is it?
Are you saying that after the dyno tune the bike ran worse?
Do you have the software for the Power Commander? If so hook it up and retrieve the map.
A faulty head temperature sensor will cause running problems.

the power commander is series 3 think around 6 years old I bought the bike 4 years ago with the pc on it so no software. and ya when I picked the bike up at ALEFS HD in wichita ks the bike would not start then we got it to start but ran like crap rode it home about 30 miles and parked it I tryed to start it a week or so later it would not start went out a week later finaly got it started but sounds like only one cylender it pops cracks then dies... I dont know what they did but they are a waste of time
For trouble-shooting the best advice given so far was to remove the power commander to see if the bike runs better. More than likely you have a defective power commander not a defective ECM. If the bike runs on both cylinders and sounds basically ok, then the next step would be to replace the power commander with a proper map for your set up. You can download software from the dynojet website and reload the map on your current PC as well to see if that helps. Before you put a new map in, make sure you use the power commander software to save the one that is currently in it. Reading the PC manual will help greatly.
