Power Commander Will Not Power On
I have the Power Commander III on my EFI RKC. I have had it for a year with no problems. I was reading somewhere about updating the firmware on it when you can. I have tuned the map that is downloaded a few times, so connecting my laptop to the PC3 is nothing new to me. This afternoon, I downloaded a couple of firmware updates to my laptop from the Power Commander website. Then connect my laptop to the PC3 via the cable provided. I then turn the ignition on the console to the "on" position to power up the bike, but not start it. I always do this when I sync up the the PC3. The first update installed fine. The second went into error on the laptop and shut the program down. I then looked at the PC3 and no lights were on. I turned the ignition off and then on a few times. No luck. Unplugged the PC3 from the ECM and let it sit a couple of hours, no luck. (I think when you do updates you are supposed to leave the bike off and use a 9V battery...so I hear now!) Called tech support for PC3 and they told me to send it in for it to be reflashed. Also mentioned a device from PC that will do this for me, but I can not find it online. Anyone that has any advice or have been down this road please chime in. Sorry for the long a$$ story. My bike is out of commission until I resolve this. Running without the PC3 causes the bike to run bad. It was running fine so I shouldn't have farted with it. Thanks!
