1 1/2 pints is right you fill it up to the small fill level bolt on the bottom of the primary if you put that much in it would push it out for sure!if i go just a little over my clutch slips like mad!

If I am reading the post correctly.... You had oil up to just below the filler plug? If correct, then you have found your problem.
And no, there should be no damage done........ pg

Yes I was that stupid to fill it to the filler plug I admit it. The correct level should take care of all the symtoms I have been having, clutch drag, slipping, hard to shift, oil everywhere.
