I have a 78 with a ultima ignition and was wondering if the gap or plug should change from my points set up. I just run the standard plug listed in the manual.
The plug gap for electronic ignition [EI] is 040. For points it is 030. For mag ignition it is 020.
I am running the same EI. I have always used NGK BPR6HS for EI. It seems that there is always controversy about various brands of spark plugs, but never a bad word about NGKs.
To go by the manual you would have to look at 1981 and newer specs as these have "modern" EIs. The spec for '79 [and i think for 80?] in the manuals is wrong. For the EI models HD recommended a plug gap of 060 for "marketing" reasons.
