I'm doing a restoration on a '71 Ironhead. The bike will have only a kick-start. Because there will be no requirement for 'cranking amps' any reason I can't use a small gel-cell 12V battery? Thanks
I wouldn't think it would be a problem. My 65 xlch is hooked up that way.
I put batt in just so I could turn on lites without having to have bike running.
I would ask elsewhere, that place (the xl forum) sure has alot of ********

I do not see a member name stonemaster over there. Did you actually join?

I enjoy that forum too. There is very good info there too. I myself never got any disrespect at all . Now let's stop that bashing now before it gets out of hand . That is all that is going to be said on this.
