tried to update my radio,downloaded software to my computer,copied that to a flash drive,turned on bike with accessory switch,plugged in flash drive and radio screen said no media detected,must be doing something wrong

 

My prior experience has been if you did not open the new maps folder and then add to your thumb drive, that would cause it. If you did not allow the map system to come on on the bike that would cause it. Or you downloaded the wrong file, like the CVO update. Assuming you don't have one.

 

You must unzip the file before You send it to Your zip drive.Look in the zip drive and You should see 3 files; .txt,.iso, and .iso.md5.

 

I had the same issue before I was successful. I left the file zipped, unzipped it, tried multiple times. I finally looked on the thumb drive and noticed the Harley download was actually 3 items. I deleted all the items EXCEPT the file that was 1 gig or so. I tried again and Voila'......worked perfectly!! I found the answer on the internet after considerable frustration (and research).

 

The directions are on the HD website where the software update is downloaded. Follow that and you'll be good to go.
