Navagation update question
Yes the CVO gets three free updates in a five year period and the procedure is as follows:

Update, replacement and restoration map databases are downloaded from harley-davidson.naviextras.com. This website can be accessed through a link on www.h-d.com/boom.
Update: Motorcycles are delivered with the latest map data- base. Newer database versions are periodically released and are made available for purchase.
Intercontinental Replacement: Riders traveling outside of their home navigation database area can purchase a replacement database which covers the intended area of travel.
Intercontinental Restoration: After returning from extended travel in a different continent or in a region requiring a unique database, the navigation database can be restored to its home database.
Verifying Database Version
1. Turn ignition on.
2. Select Home > Setup > System Information > Navigation > Database to show the currently installed database version.

The manual states you get 3 free updates over the first 5 years. I just updated mine and to stretch it out I might wait for 2 years for the next one. The "find HD dealer" feature is always going to be questionable in regards to accuracy as unfortunately there is a serious lag in updates. I have an iPhone app that stays current to find dealers with, including nav to the location for that.
Also...when I plugged in the update into the bike it takes a solid hour+ to run the update.

3 free in the first five years. Why not use it? Hell, my Garmin I use in my work truck has lifetime maps and I update it whenever it's due. I'm still driving on 3 year old roads that don't show up on it. Or Google maps for that matter either.
3 free in 5 years but it is now 2016 and newest was back in 2014! I have a 2015 Ultra Limited and I guess it will cost me $150 to update if/when they decided to bring out a newer version. Slow and expensive!!!

i'm sick of trying to update my maps, it's just not happening. I get the thumprint off the bike via 8GB USB drive then sign in to Naviextras, All good so far, then go to toolbox, insert USB drive, it then asks me to log in again using the login details I have JUST USED to log into Naviextras, then the wheel thingy in the middle just sits there spinning for hours!! Bottom left corner shows there's content on the USB drive but its not logging me in??? I give up. I am familiar with downloading software to bike so it's not alien to me how to use the infotainment, I think the problem lies with the toolbox side of Naviextras, being in the UK it's not easy to pick up the phone and talk to anyone.
Chief - your info says you're in Central Tx. I'm in Austin, so perhaps we're close?
Has anyone been successful updating maps? I just purchased a 2015 CVO Road Glide. The map set on it is from 2013, and the Naviextra site shows a 2014 Q2 map update I'm supposed to access for free. I've followed all instructions but have been unsuccessful getting the update to download. I make the thumbprint of my system off the bike to a USB drive, plug it into my computer, Naviextras recognizes it and starts the download, but halfway through it stops with an error message saying the device was disconnected. I have to take the USB drive out of the computer and plug it back in before the computer will even read it. I am at a loss as to what is going on. I've contacted the support line three times today, but they don't seem to have a clue how to deal with problems with Naviextra. I'm at a loss.
I was out riding yesterday evening and some of the roads I was on aren't on the maps. I would really like to get the update installed if possible. Thanks for any assistance.
Error messages I keep getting:
Requested Operation was interrupted because the device was disconnected. Please connect the device and try again.
Server Parameter Error. Authentication Encryption Malfunction.
Hopefully someone on here can help. I have no idea what to do.
