boombox 6.5 software update prob

boombox 6.5 software update prob
I tried to update my boombox 6.5 software no no avail. My boombox will not sense that I have a 8mb flash drive with software update on it. nothing else on drive.
- I tried 2 ways to download the software.
1. to my desktop then unzipped the file on desktop and then copied unzipped file to flashdrive
2. copied the zipped file to the flash drive ( did not unzip)
Boombox will not sense the software for update
I get no 'no playable media available 'ok''.
For successful updating do you unzip the file first then copy to flash drive?
