Default Anyone has book time

for replacing the clutch line, the local stealer is trying to tell me it involves 4 hours labor on a 17 sgs, I'm having a hard believing it takes that long.

Wouldn't it be covered under warranty?

I just had stainless brake lines and clutch line installed on my 17 Limited and was charged 2 1/2 hours for all. I'd say they're getting to you.

Doubt it takes 4 hours, but if that's what the book says then that's what they'll charge. I imagine the fairing needs to come off, inner fairing needs to be tilted, line bled, etc

Why are you replacing it?

Thanks for the replies, I'm looking for actual book time to just do the clutch line. Just trying to make sure its all on the up and up. I wouldn't think its anymore then an hour but I may be wrong.

Book time gets you. I was just at Wildfire HD getting my 1K done on my way to Sturgis.

Book time is 3 hours. I was in and out in under an hour.

Took me more time to resolve the stupid credit card issues (new system has difficulty dealing with Amex), than to do the actual service. Pissed me right off, but is what is.

What is the hourly rate at your local dealerships. Here in Phoenix I called a couple dealers to get estimates for the cam chain tensioners on my wifes Lowrider. The first place was $125 an hour and the second was $129. I guess since motorcycle sales is down they make it up in service and parts. (first dealer always charges 20% over msrp on parts).
That's crazy, four hours for a clutch line, It'd cost over $500 for labor, parts, tax and the stupid shop supplies fee that they add in.
