Default Is it worth getting the HD Extended Service/Warranty Plan for the M8s?

For those who have 17s, the clock is ticking on our 2 year mfg warranty and will be expiring soon. With all the issues with oil transfer, sumping, etc... wondering if biting the bullet & getting the ESP is a must in this situation.

I usually don’t get them as I think it is a waste of $$$, and passed on it when I signed the ppwk. Anybody going to pick it up before their warranty expires? For those who’ve gotten the ESP in the past, do they usually find a loophole/excuse that your claim is not covered?

I have never had a problem with the extended warranty covering repairs. I found it to be very satisfactory. I will qualify that I that my engine, exhaust, and tuner were all stock. I never mess with them. I find stock is more than enough power for my needs

I'm going to give https://www.discountesp.com/ a try. It's like 1348 for 5 additional years.

I agree as long as your bike is stock there shouldn’t be many problems. All the headaches start when you get into the stage updates there the one with the problems if you did stage upgrades I would extend my warranty, i am stock and happy with my motorcycle not going to extend.

Right does one go for the extended warranty or just spend that money on something like http://www.feulingparts.com/products...e%20Eight/7260.

That's a good question, but that part for sure isn't going to fix a failed trans bearing, ABS module, or a 6.5 Radio. All of which cost around 1-2K to fix.
I've had two of those issues so far between the last two bikes... good times.

In my past (aka....younger days) I would never get one. Complete waste of money. I am now 66 and do not want or need to do my own wrenching AND intend to keep the bike stock. So, I bought a 2018 ultra limited anniversary edition a few weeks ago. Dealer in my town is great and always treated me well, so I bit the bullet and got the Harley ESP. It did cost more than the other ESP but my dealer was very candid with me.....he said that if I ever had to go into another dealership with a warranty claim and showed my ESP card there would be no issues at all.,..but with any other plan it takes longer to get paid, they won’t start the work until it is clear what is covered and a rep gets sent out, etc. At any rate, I researched the other ESP products and decided to go with the HD one. I do understand and appreciate that others are perfectly happy with the other ones and some are very happy with no ESP. Whatever floats your boat! It’s YOUR machine and YOUR money.

my thing is a value minded mental road block with the price all lumped into Touring class..so they quoted me the same for my Road King as they would a Road Glide Ultra for example with a bunch of all its extra stuff that can go wrong..figure I'll forego the ESP once again , roll the dice and have at least $2000 to start with by doing so

I've always thought that it was just the people who modify their bikes who ran into problems but I've recently learned the hard way that that is not always the case.

GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY!

Excellent point. I have thought of this too. It would nice to have the engine more bullet proofed and have the ESP. But, I think for the reasons you have stated here I will probably go with my 1st ESP ever because of all these issues. I'm also thinking of going with the HD ESP because that is what my dealer sells and I really like the guys at my dealership.
