The Harley tech bulletin on fluid transfer says it applies to twin-cam and M8 touring bikes.

No, you can buy an M8 bike and be absolutely immune to the fluid transfer, and almost certainly immune to the sumping. You just have to buy an M8 Softail.

Fluid transfer only happens on touring bikes with hydraulic clutches, whether they're M8 or not. And sumping, while theoretically possible on an M8 Softail, doesn't seem that happen in reality, at least as far as reports here go.

If you were looking at a Softail M8, you can jump in with both feet right now.

If you are looking at a touring M8, then more caution is warranted.

Interesting. There seems to be a lot of misinformation about (not you) - I emailed them (a few months ago) and got the "yes, it fixes it" reply. More cause to take a step back and think about this rather than jump head first in shouting "take my money"... haha.

Looking at a Tri-Glide, really, but a Softail might be nice.
Still... with some luck, they might have fixed these two problems in the 2019 114s... we'll see (let the early adopters run into the problems, ha, I'll buy about Feb 19)
