Default Injector size richness

Hello friends. I will be bringing my 2022 Fat Bob 114 to the dyno guy next week and decided to go with SE 5.5 injectors. It has a cam and aluminum intake, slip ons, air cleaner TTS mastertune etc. I want to put the injectors in myself to save the $300 or so install fee. I know it will run rich but do you guys think it'll be ok to ride it to the dyno shop. It's about 20 minutes away of backroad. Thanks.

Has it been tuned with the cam yet?

What makes you need larger injectors? Cams, exhaust etc don't typically need them. What's your current duty-cycle?

When I installed my 5.5's, I also added a ported 64mm intake. The added air with the new slightly bigger injectors didn't change the afr much. As a matter of fact, the new map that Fuel Moto sent me wouldn't even run. The bike would barely start and ran terrible so I reinstalled the previous map and the bike runs great. Afr's are typically in the 13's cruising and very low 14's at idle except for wfo at which point it drops to high 11's to low 12's. So you never know until you get it started and monitor how its running. Good luck!

My duty cycle was going over 90% with the stock injectors was the reason I bumped up one size. Bike was running okay though but I wanted the extra safety net and for future upgrades.

I'd also like to add that is the perfect time to put the S&S billet fuel rail in and get rid of the stock plastic garbage.

Thanks for the replies. Yes it's been tuned with the cam and I know I don't "Need" them but it's close so I "Want" them. So is that a yes or no on riding to the dyno with the 5.5's installed?

First I have a 07 96ci so there will be a difference. My set up power vision 3 and C3 software. I have novice credentials. Now whether you need bigger injectors is all dependent on your duty cycle, it should run around 60%. you will have to log it while running. If you’re at 90% you need bigger injectors, if you’re at 30% you’re getting out of efficiency. My C3 has a table for injector size, and you will have to do some math. Read the Notes. with whatever software you’re running look into fuel and injector size. pictures are included of my C3 tune. hopefully it is not password protected, as far as changing your injectors. Pull your seat and get to the bottom of the tank bolt. Unhook fuel quick disconnect underneath tank are your brake some parts. Then slide a 6 inch piece of 2 x 4 underneath the tank to lift the tank out of your way. Finally remove anything obstructing your path to the two fuel injectors, and your throttle body. Injectorsare usually held in place with one little bolt. it will take a little bit of wiggling to get them out, cause they’re out of kind of an angle, and they also have the wires that clip on the injector. and before you put them back in, make sure you grease the O-rings with generous amount of white lithium or you’ll cut them. it takes me about 10 minutes to change my injectors on my wide glide. It is very easy , make sure you lube the old rings before you put them back in. And make sure before you even take the seat off you unplug the fuel line from the tank. Pull your fuse to your fuel pump and start the bike and it’ll take all the pressure off the fuel line. I’LL SAY IT AGAIN UNPLUG YOUR FUEL LINE 1ST!!! Riding to Dyno, YES BUT FIRST TAKE A SHORT RIDE WHILE WATCHING YOU FRONT/REAR KNOCKS. Be gentle on throttle, if no knock then good to go. As with any unknown tune first make sure it’s not predicting are stumbling. Lean pre-debt blows holes and pistons! I have put a tune in that knocked one or two times before computer learned it, but I always have two channels set up to watch the knock.

Just open your map , change the injector constant and re-program. Good call on the 5.5's. Most 114's with a good cam need them. a 107 is pretty safe.

Thanks, I kinda figured that but I'm not too swift with computer EFI programming. And unless your willing to spoon feed me and walk me through the process is why I'm asking if it's ok to drive to the dyno next week with the 5.5's. I knew just enough to get by with Dynojet Powervison but this TTS has my head spinning. While we're at it. When I had Powervision I ran my (2007 FZ1) completely in open loop. No 02 sensor. Ran like a beast. Is that feasible with 114?

Easy peasy if you've got a laptop with bluetooth, or computer close to the bike. Yes you can run it open loop but can't think of a reason why. You may be ok to ride it 20 minutes but you've just added 25% fuel
