Default Insurance Price Question

Hello Folks,

Just wondering if I can get some opinions from you guys about motorcycle insurance rates.

The time came for me to renew insurance policy on my 2017 Street Glide Special and I'm currently insured with Geico with a yearly policy of $967.00, but since the bike now come January 1st, will be 2 years old, I'm trying to see if I can same some money on the renewal quoted price, which has been the same since I bought the bike.

Basically, what I would like to ask you folks, is if you can share some light on what other companies out there just might be a better choice for me when it comes to insuring my bike, perhaps, if you don't mind sharing how much those of you with Street Glides (Special) pay for your own insurance and with which company you are insured.

Thanks a lot in advance for your inputs on this matter.

Ride Safe!!!

Be sure to quote Esurance and Progressive. Full coverage on my 18 Fat Bob is $280/year thru Progressive. Liability only was $75/year on my Street 750.

Everything varies dramatically depending on your ZIP code, your driving record, etc, so you really have to quote them all.

Just insured my new 2019 Road Glide with Progressive for $465. That includes uninsured motorists.

I had GEICO for years on several different bikes, the last one being a 2017 Street Glide Special. When I purchased my 2018 Road Glide Special Harley Davidson Insurance Services beat GEICO's price for the same coverage

That is 100% the truth. The price depends more heavily on your location, driving record, and coverage limits than it does on the actual motorcycle (though replacement cost does factor in...). It's good to shop around every ~3 years as different carriers come in/out of different markets. Each state has a division of insurance that can help you find out which carriers will be the lowest price for a specific insurable, though you'll usually need to dig through the state website to find it. It might be good to look at which carriers are relatively new to selling motorcycle insurance in your area, because carriers typically enter a market when they can be competitive and gain market share by having lower rates than competitors.

It may be worth it to look at some of the auto/motorcycle insurance comparison/marketplace websites to get an idea of what rates for a similar policy will cost... just be careful to use an insurance agency and not one of the lead-generation sites.

You can have one company for awhile good rates and service. Then all the sudden they pull a list of people and test the water by jacking rates up. if you name comes you you get a big increase. Dump them and love to someone new.. That is how the game is played now days.
Not only is it zip code, your recorded it is related to credit score. Also to number of policies then either want or don't want in a region.
Remember not every company that sell motorcycle insurance really does ,some are just a front for another company. HD insurance was really progressive at one time , I head they have moved to another now. can't prove that .
The problem with companies like these they do not ensure Autos so the discounts you can see with having bikes and car even home with the same company are not possible .

Bought my first Harley a week ago and went with Harley Davidson insurance. I got a quote from Geico with the same coverage and was more expensive even though I have car and home insurance through them.

below are quotes i received from each insurance company with all the same or close to same coverage's

Harley- $260 a year
Geico- $340 a year
markel- $503 a year
allstate- $330 a year
progressive- $250 a year

these are all much cheaper compared to when i had my sport bike 5 years ago. was paying $130 a month for insurance
