I took mine all apart today and was going to remove the rubber plug.
Mine does not have a rubber plug in it at all.
I'm pissed, all the money and the light sucks.
I have pics but cant get them to load.
Mine didnt have the rubber plug either, but it had a sticker over the hole which I removed and threw it away..mine looks about normal now ..like it did when I got it

Yeah, I pulled that sticker, too. Didn't do a damn bit of good on my light.
I did mine without taking the fairing off..left the mounting on the bike, just took the light out..did mine about 30 days ago and havent had it out in the sun since, but it looks clear like it was in 2014..I put mine in a bag of rice over night and left the hole open when I reinstalled it..havent touched the running lights yet..but the bike has to sit until the end of December so thats a project I need to do...
Thanks, but I had the Fairing off for other maintenance. The rice trick sounds like a great idea.
I'm going to try HD ESP one more time. The result could dictate my next bike purchase.
It's getting cold here in NE Ohio, my riding is about done.
I know its been over a year however I would like to share that I had a headlight that hazed with the powder although it was not a day maker it was the factory hd light. So I guess that it could also be something else because the standard 14 two bulb headlight doesn't have desiccant packs in them.
I found out you can clean the standard light by putting about a cap full of rubbing alcohol and putting a lent free shop paper towel into the light and I used a wooden shiksa bob stick to clean the inside. Then I dried it out with a hair dryer. At first I thought the alcohol stained the chrome but after it dried it was not damaged.
I know this is an old thread. Helping a friend with his Daymaker, Has a haze on the inside. I read the post and his headlamp didn't fit into any of the above fixes.
Can't heat it and pull it apart.
Doesn't have a rubber plug to pull out.
Any other suggestions besides telling my friend he's SOL and purchase another headlamp?
