Why? The 14's have plenty of room compared to 13 & earlier models plus the stock mount allows about 1" forward/rearward adjustment already.

I suppose it really depends on how "deep" your passenger's dimensions are.

Right. Both me & my wife are "large" people. Had to do TP relocation kits on both the 99 & 07 Ultras. This one my wife has plenty of room. She sits so far back we have empty air between us. I'm considering moving the TP forward.

Default Doing it myself for my Tri Glide

I'm moving mine back 1 3/8" on my Tri Glide. It was already in the rear position. If you think there's any interest, I could start a thread in that forum section with pictures and stuff. Any interest? Hopefully this mod will move it back without any increase in height or angle. It's pretty simple.

I have the detachable mounting plate and it is slotted. There is room to either drill new holes or slot it further. I haven't seen a stock bolt on plate.

There is no need for a relocation kit on the 14's. Simply place the TP where you want it and use the holes already in the TP to mark where you need to put new holes in the TP rack. Drill them out and bolt it up.

The only reason the TP relo kits were needed prior to 2014 is because of the tubular rack that did not provide the strength for relocating without a kit.

If you move it back more than 7/8" there isn't any more bracket in the back to drill or bolt to. So I just used a piece of 1/8" plate under the bracket and a spacer at the back bolt to extend it. Worked great.

Default Bracketry

Here's the bracket moved forward (= move Tour Pak back) 1 3/8". Note that the back bolt doesn't have anything to go through.

Ignore that extra bolt/nut for a minute.

So, I drilled the front of the bracket with a new hole 1 3/8" back from the rear-most hole, no problem.

Then I cut a piece of 1/8" x 1 1/4" steel stock, I think it was 13" long. Maybe 14. But enough to go back far enough to make a hole for that bolt in the back. Since the bracket is a little less than 1/8" thick, a spacer between the pak and the steel was needed. I figured why not extend it back a tad to catch more surface area of the fiberglass. So the assembly looks like this (yeah, I'll get to that other bolt in a minute.)

When I re-do it (test run was 500 miles and a success!), I'll get something for the back spacer closer to the thickness of the bracket. And paint everything, Locktite the nuts, etc.

That extra bolt was just added to tie the back of the bracket to the piece of steel so it doesn't go flopping around or anything; I used the existing "front" hole on the back of the bracket, and used a 1/4-20 flat head stainless bolt and Nylock. I used a countersink to get the head flush with the bracket. I'll have to put a little silicone there and at the other drilled hole to prevent rust.

Here is the whole thing put together on the pack, read to bolt back on the trunk.

Worked great, like I said, and the wife appreciated the extra room behind the new backrest. The wire cover pad thing just reaches the rear of her seat, so no exposed wires or anything. Barely. Here is a pic of it in the new location.

With the new duffel bag rack and tie-downs, ready to roll!
