Hey all,
I went to the national site and found the date for next year (2006). The date is May 26th! We are there!!!!!!!!!! The national site also has a flyer that can be downloaded and passed around
Being a Vietnam Vet - i have long wanted to go to the Wall in D.C. We have 4 bikes now from western PA, and i think there will be more, that are going to Rolling Thunder 2006. I am a long time supporter for the answer for the POW's and MIA's from our war. i, like Steve, would like to know of campsites near the Thunder. Please let me know. Thanks.
There are not many campsites close to DC. You will have to look in Northern Virginia like Fairfax, Arlington and Loudon Counties or in Maryland look in Montgomery, Frederick and Washington Counties. All are within an hour ride of the staging area for Rolling Thunder. There are even a couple of nice campsites in Gettysburg PA that are 1 1/2 hours from DC and it is a nice ride. Just check your internet search engine for camping in any of the locations I mentioned.
Oh Yeah, I forgot about Harpers Ferry West Virginia as well.
Last year the sponsored campsite was in Manassas Park on Memorial weekend - - seems it was the first year, and it was a pretty good turn out...it's about 35 miles from DC - -
I have not made reservations for this one yet, but I am definitley there! I have heard so much about this ride I cannot miss it. Probably 4+ of us riding in from NY (Westchester and Ulster Counties).
