What is so special about H-D steering head grease, and is there a substitute? Thanks.

 

I use whatever I have in the grease gun.
Such a small amount needed isn't worth buying a fresh tube.

Same stuff I use on the mower deck so I expect to lose some speed.
Oh darn.....

 

A heavy grease stays put better but you can use any grease . The first time it will take a lot. I use a SYN only because it seems to clean up better. I have a small grease gun hanging in the bike room it is more than enough to give it a few pumps
