ok wise-n-mighty forum,,, what grease have you guys been using on the steering stem???
I dont want the crap that gets hot and melts, drips, runs, on my Ultraclassic
got any tried and true brands/ methods ?
and how much would I pump in the zerk for my first filll?
The bible, "FSM" calls for using "Special Purpose Grease" Part Number: 99857-97. I'm sure thats some H-D exclusive stuff. I've got water resistant lithium based wheel bearing grease. But, I don't want to mix that suff with the H-D Stuff assembled at the factory!
Not good to mix grease's. Some are not compatable.

I'll second the melts , drips and runs ,I got home last night and my bike was just covered in oil on the left side. I 1st thought it was fork oil but after further inspection I found it to be that thin a$$ bearing grease.[:@]
I've been using Valvolene high tempwheel bearing grease.
If greasing for the first time, the neck will take a lot of grease.Pump it in til you see it come out, then wipe off the excess.
