Formula+ works fine in all primarys. However, I don't like the extra price and the primary doesn't really care what is in there. Cheap diesel 15w40 works just fine for alot less $$$. Peanut oil would probably work as well

Formula + apparently caused some issues with my shifting.....louder, more clunk. I dumped and went back to Mobil1 20/50......better shifting nd less clunk.
Just my experience, might work great in your ride.

What EvoRider said. Go buy some cheap fossil engine oil at Wal-Mart or Auto Zone and use it in the primary. It doesn't need a high-tech oil in that location, especially $6.50 (or whatever) Formula+, which is a ripoff. I'm presently using Castrol GTX 20w50, which is $2.50/qt. or thereabouts and works great.

I use red ATF so I can tell if it's the primary that's leaking. (It is.)

Tractor hydraulic oil in the chaincases works well for me in a few Iron & Evo Sportys, a Evo FXRand a new bagger. 5 bucks a gallon at WallyWorld or partsstore. In the trannys on BTs I use Walmart Tech Syn Gear oil. Afterweb-searching some Blackstone Labs Virgin Oil Analysis' and Used O A's onMotor Co.oil, Mobil 1 (V-twin & auto- little difference) and Valvoline Racing (not as much phos/zinc as they claim) and a few others, I now use Rotella T synthetic (diesel) 15w/40 in my H-D's and 5w/40 synin the old ladies Shadow. I figure it's best for engine protection and cost effectiveness combined. Whatever you use- I suggestchanging oil /filter at 2500 miles. PurolatorPL 10241, Mobil 1 M1-102 & Bosch 3330 are good Evo BTorTC 88 oil filters.

IMHO, of all the fluids I'veused inthe primary, Type F ATF works as well as anything AND is very cheap. I change the primary every 2500 miles so needing a synthetic , expensive motor oil isn't a consideration. The primary is UNFILTERED and doesn't get nearly as hot as the motor oil does. Frequent changing with a fluid (Type F atf) that treats the clutch plates right seems really logical to me.
