Default Amsoil service intervals?

Guys,
Ordered Amsoil today...
20/50 for motor and primary...SVG for the trans.....

Also ordered their EAOM134 oil filter...I've been using K&N. Was this is good swap?

Been running Mobil 1, BelRay Hypoid, some cheap stuff for the primary.

I'm funny as hell about my HOG so I dump the oils every 2500 miles. Anyone know the service intervals for Amsoil?

The oil is good for twice the OEM change interval. The Ea filter uses the latest "Nano Fiber" technology and is good for the same period of time. Not like any other filter

Amsoil makes a fine oil product but I would have to wait until I see a cut-away analysis of this filter. Previous Amsoil oil filters have been some of the worst on the market, very low number of sq. inch's of filter media and poor construction. Until I know different, I'll stay with the K&N filter.

Harley states you can go 5k using their cheapest oil and their filter, so why would you spend more for amsoil and change it sooner?

Well, I'll tell ya why...I have a Dodge Ram that I bought new and have had nothing in it but synthetic...283,000 miles later the motor is as tight as it was with 0 miles when I bought it.

I gave $6.90 per quart for the Amsoil...Syn3 is higher than that. Harley oil filters are what...$11 bucks...the K&N is $12. I'm not fully understanding your arithmetic on how it's cheaper if I use Harley oil & filters.

I change it sooner because if you'll view my signature, you'll notice that I spent a lot of money on my engine and good fresh oil will ALWAYS be cheap insurance.

Hope this clears it up.

I would be willing to bet that your not gonna keep your bike until you have 238,000 miles on it. my point was Harley says you can use their oil for 5k miles with no problem. check you owners manual. now if that stuff can handle 5k mile change intervals, theres no reason to change amsoil's product sooner.especially considering what it costs. most people worry too much about their oil. they dont ride their bikes or own them long enough to be that concerned about longevity. If you disagree with that comment look at the milage on the harleys for sale on ebay. 10 year old bikes with 5k miles on then, whats that one oil change?. the guys i ride have better things to worry about then changing out perfectly good oil because someone said his granpa used to change his oil every 1500 miles.

LOL, ok. I see your idea behind your post, however, I'm not "most".

My bike is 19 months old...2 months on the lift torn apart and waiting on paint/wheels...stuff like that. Then it was on the lift another month for all the performance parts I put in. These 3 months happened to be during good riding weather. This brings the 19 months down to 16. Now, 16 months...18,000 miles on it...I assure you that I'm not "most guys".

I don't have the Dyno sheet scanned or anything like that to show you. It's right in line with what Branch claimed their heads would do...I'm at 101 HP and 98 FP. This is all motor, I never had a Dyno with a NOS shot.

I have a few other things in it that aren't listed, insignificant to the HP though.
Doherty Myst-Free breathers
Ness Stage 2
Bassani 2:1 Road Rage
Barnett Scorpion clutch (which I may remove)
Converted the belt drive to a chain drive

I will say I learned a VALUABLE lesson with pipes and air cleaners. I originally had the V&H Big Shot true duals and a Wimmer Mini Max intake (waterproof) and after I put the motor together I had it Dyno'd...only got 72 HP. All I could figure that was restricting me were the pipes and intake so I changed to what I have now...those 2 items were an instant 20 HP. Put it back on the Dyno, it was at 91 HP...proceeded to tune it fromthere.
