The wife and I rode up to Palomar for Breakfast and noticed The Hideout (Mesa Grande) has Reopened. We didn't stop but there were signs out saying so. Just wanted to let you kow.
Thanks for posting that. I was wondering if they were ever going to reopen. I assume it's under new ownership. It's been over a year or so since closing. I don't know if they will last with the new casino open now. I hope so. I stopped there a few times while they were closed just to take a break and other riders would stop and shoot the ****.
It is my understanding that they were shut down by the Health Dept for bad plumbing. It's rumor that it was up for sale. When the Santa Ysabel Casino opened the Hideout's business slowed way down. You could go there and get a huge steak for less then the Hideout's burger.
I heard they were going to reopen as a Thai restaurant. That was from the Locals up there. Today would be a good day to go check it out, but I gotta work in the grove.
I was up there today (Sunday) and was surprised to see that it had reopened. I talked to the new owner, his name is Sep and he's a cool guy. Said he bought it after the prior owners lease ran out. The reason it was closed so long was he had to get a new liquor license and had to do a little re-modeling. He is not going to change it from the way it was, biker bar with bands and a few events. I guess some were trying to get him to turn it into a sports bar. He said it was going to be around for a long time. Drop by and have a beer, its a great ride destination and I am glad its open again.
i was wondering if they had reopened.....stopped at Dudley's on sunday and almost went by......thanks for the info, now i'll definitely stop the next time thru!
We've ridden up there two of the past three weeks, this past Sunday was a pretty big crowd and a couple of vendor booths. The drink and food menue is still pretty limited, but we like the place. The girl(Maya) behind the bar is a sweetheart.I hope they get it going and keep it going it's always a great ride destination with lots of great scenery along the way
