Default My run with the Pan America is over…

So, after weeks of research, test rides, and debate, I broke down and traded the Pan America Special in for a new Triple Black BMW R1300 GS. I had a good time with the Pan America, it’s a fine bike and I never had any trouble from mine other than immature software woes. This is the first time spine many years I’ve not had a Harley in the Garage. I will definitely need to start looking for a non-touring model to fill the void. I’ve had many older BMWs over the years and still have one ‘77 R100/7, so I’m pretty comfortable moving to BMW for my primary ride.

I think GS are cool bikes, and curious about Pan America. What made you change, since you already owned one? Also for me, not having rode either, I would be looking for touring bike not a cruiser. I realize people ride them around the world. But I have grown soft.

If someday the Pans get common and have good used prices I would think about. By then I'll probably be to old. Ha.

You did right, the upgrade is a better machine overall. It has it's own set of bugs to chase but they are known quality with them unlike the Pan-Am.

Really I was just gassing to trade into something else. I sold a couple of other bikes and had the cash to pull the trigger. I really liked the Pan Am overall though. It’s a kick *** bike that is getting more refined.

I’ve had a good run with the Pan America, no real issues for me other than buggy software at the start and that has come a long way. But, as you can see in the pic I’ve got some BMW action already in the garage and have owned many. I’m betting that the Gen 2 Pan America will come out swinging.

Congrats. IMO, BMW did a nice job on the 1300GS - slimmer, lighter, etc. Looking forward to seeing the 1300RT.

I used to really want a BMW for touring. But the storage seemed so small in the LTs and RTs. Never saw never. Just gone done wrenching on jap bike, that may have cured me for awhile though

I always like the GS with giant bags.

I’ve got an RT in addition to my LRS. Nice to have two different rides

I never do a glance back at my RT when she is parked, but all things considered - power, weight, performance, storage, comfort, tech - a very good bike.
