Default Brake line replacement

Hi All,
I will be replacing the hydraulic brake lines on my 65 as they are in pretty bad shape and I was curious as to what is the best way to flush out the master cylinder as well as the Brake light switch to make sure there is nothing in the sensor? Any info would be put to good use!

The easiest way to do the master cylinder is to open it up and wash it out with a soft brush. For the switch try a pump type oil can filled with brake fluid, but be sure to wear a pair of shop goggles because fluid will go everywhere.

Just a suggestion....if you are replacing the lines think about flushing the whole system. 65s used a hydraulic drum. If it has been sitting for 10 years the Warner Lockeedmaster cylinder seals are probably toast in addition to the lines. There is a cylinder behind the rear wheel backing plate as well that will need attention. You should rebuild that as well.

One last thought...65s were originally designed to use DOT3 fluid. You can use DOT5 (a better idea IMHO) but it means replacing the seals and flushing the lines because the two do not mix and are defintiely not compatible. Since you are flushing the lines it might be a good time to upgrade and give yourself a little more stopping power (hydaulic drums and stopping power are a bit of an oxymoron however).
